Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities:

 

ISYS Technologies is hiring a Network Support Specialist.

 

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Information Network and Physical Infrastructure Support Tasks: Provide support for all JIOWC network physical infrastructure design, installation, maintenance and documentation on-site at JIOWC Headquarters to accomplish tasks
  • Answer and triage customer assistance requests on information technology and communications issues under the direction of the Help Desk Manager. Provide quick solutions for user problems at this level, if possible. This assistance can be over phone, remote computer login, or in person. Otherwise, forward to the appropriate personnel via designated tracking system with priority determined by current operating procedures and/or the Help Desk Manager
  • As requested by the Help Desk Manager, in the event of a widespread system or service outage, Help Desk and/or Web support personnel shall broadcast an authorized announcement as soon as feasibly possibly (via prominent Web notice and/or e-mail to all affected users) explaining the outage, prognosis for solution, and a follow-up announcement when problem is resolved
  • Use the government tracking system to open tickets for information network issues and document steps to resolve the problems. Enter, update and complete assignment information and steps taken to resolve issues on all trouble calls into the JIOWC Trouble Ticket system for workload tracking
  • Perform technical tasks to resolve Help Desk tickets as required by the Government including tasks related to workstations, printers, fax machines, communication devices, hand-held devices, scanners, Video Teleconference (VTC) Suites, and other peripherals
  • Support JIOWC VTC operations including the daily coordination, management, operations and maintenance of audio and video equipment in conference rooms, VTC scheduling, and VTC problem resolution. VTC scheduling shall be maintained via designated government VTC scheduling system(s)
  • Assist the JIOWC Information System Security Officer (ISSO) as required including assisting the ISSO with network security incident response and management. A network security incident is a violation or imminent threat of violation of computer/network security policies, acceptable use policies, or standard security practices. The goal of the response team is to quickly discover a violation and then effectively contain the damage, eradicate the violations presence, and restore the integrity of the network and systems
  • Assist Equipment Control Officer (ECO) providing asset management and other life-cycle program management support, technical typing, analysis, and support
  • Create and maintain Help Desk Documentation and Information Network Support Guides, such as a “Frequently Asked Questions” type documents covering common and unique issues, the documents shall conform to the format provided by the JIOWC
  • Assist the JIOWC ISSO with creating and establishing local policies and procedures for cross-domain data transfer based upon DOD, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force, and Intel Community policies, procedures, and processes
  • Maintain familiarity with all DOD, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Air Force, Intel Community, and JIOWC policies, procedures, and processes for transferring data from one network to another
  • Assist users in data transfers in accordance with established JIOWC policies and procedures
  • Develop and provide training to data owners, data custodians, network and system administrators, users, and delegated data transfer operators in accordance with JIOWC policy and procedures

 

 

 

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

 

  • Information Network and Physical Infrastructure Support Personnel experience: Personnel performing Information Network and Physical Infrastructure support tasks shall possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of personal computer equipment (e.g. desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones) hardware and software support, common computer peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners) hardware and software support, collaboration technologies (e.g. VTC suites) hardware and software support, and ability to support industry standard software products. Personnel shall collectively cover each of the referenced categories with at least one person that possesses the requisite experience:
    • Installation of ducts and conduits, pulling cables, terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling
    • Installation of fiber optic modems, multiplexers, patch panels, distribution frames, cabinets, cable ladders, rack systems, and equipment components
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of Digital MultiMeters, network cable testers, loop back adapters, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and software diagnostic tools
    • Industry standard safety practices as applied to infrastructure installation and management

Essential Requirements - Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, stand and climb stairs and steps. May require walking long distance from parking to work station. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement of up to 20 pounds. This position demands tolerance for various levels of mental stress.
